Healing and Remembrance Program Will Assist 9/11 Victims and Families During 10th Anniversary http://www.9-11healingandremembrance.org May 17, 2011 September 11th victims and families will have a new resource to assist them during the 10th commemoration ceremonies. The 9/11 Healing and Remembrance Program funded by the US Department of Justice and administered by the NYC Mental Health Association, will offer a variety of services including: a 24 hour hotline; travel and lodging; and a website containing information about upcoming 9/11 events as well as tips on how to cope with anniversary-related stress.

StoryCorps http://www.storycorps.net The September 11th Initiative The September 11th Initiative honors and remembers the stories and people affected by the events of September 11, 2001. These interviews will be housed in the permanent collection of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center. StoryCorps regularly conducts interviews at two soundproof booths in New York City, one in Grand Central Terminal and one in Lower Manhattan at Foley Sqaure. They also have two mobile recording booths that travel the country. All StoryCorps StoryBooths are designed to be safe, quiet, comfortable spaces where participants can talk and listen to each other. Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience (STAR) http://www.emu.edu/cjp/pti/star/ January 26, 2011 The STAR program was developed at the the Center for Justice & Peacebuilding (CJP) of Eastern Memonite University. The STAR program is designed to teach participants strategies for handling post-traumatic stress and leading others beyond traumatic events, informed by the latest trauma healing research from the fields of neurobiology, psychology, restorative justice, conflict transformation, peacebuilding, and religion/spirituality. The 9/11 Mental Health and Substance Abuse Program http://www.9-11mentalhealth.org/ Providing financial assistance for the cost of mental health and substance abuse treatment. Created by the September 11th Fund and the American Red Cross and now managed by the Mental Health Association of New York City (MHA), this program offers financial assistance with the cost of mental health and substance abuse treatment to those directly affected by the attacks, regardless of insurance or immigration status. Northern Virginia Family Services http://www.nvfs.org/ Now in its sunset phase, the Survivors' Fund Project has provided effective, long-term case management services to more than 1,100 survivors of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The program now offers a variety of group programs to help survivors continue their recovery.
